Our team

Owner. Design. Plant Expert.

Rebecca Rico has always loved plants, and sharing her joy of discovery in nature with others. She grew up gardening in her parent’s Chicago back yard, and created her first indoor plantings as a grade schooler with the idea that no plant is too small to love. Rebecca’s landscape design expertise includes organic food growing and ediblescaping, perennial and native planting, pollinator gardens, fine gardening changes and additions to any space, and indoor plant design. Interesting plants and colors are key to Rebecca’s vision, and pair well with her ability to create flow for each client’s use. After fifteen years of managing nonprofit programs and organizations (such as Peterson Garden Project) in the City, Rebecca dove into the opportunity to open her own plant shop and start a family landscape design business with a longtime friend.

Owner. Antiquities.

Bill Crawford learned to love plants from his father, and it was the perfect match when the opportunity to reach his lifelong goal of owning a business involved plants. A career firefighter of over 20 years at Deerfield Bannockburn, Bill grew up in Wilmette, graduated from New Trier, and looks forward to serving his community in another capacity. He has been interested in antiquities, particularly pottery and planters, since he was a small child and now uses his knowledge and research skills to find just the right pieces for clients. Added bonus? Rebecca will probably send him to deliver those heavy planters and plants to you.

Houseplant Specialist. Retail manager. Social Media.

It's easy to slide right into the family business when your mom brought your along on so many of her garden projects while you were growing up. Kayla inherited the plant geek gene, and will be your expert adviser at our retail Plant Perfect Design location. Her artist's eye for design and scale is put to good use for buying plants and products for the shop, and is also useful for taking photos of our job sites and creations. Hashtags? Kayla's the one on the socials. You might find her on site with Darius from time to time since it's good to be there to tell your husband what to do, or read a book next to a pond.

 Landscape Design.
Container Design.

Joan is an expert in design, and a veritable library of plant knowledge for plants, shrubs, and trees in the Chicagoland area. She brings over 20 years of experience in all levels of the plant industry, including the creation of seasonal container programs at multiple independent garden centers. She loves using green tones with layers of texture to tell the story of an outdoor space. Joan is influenced by West Coast design, and uses clean lines with vibrant pops of color for accent to her monochrome color palette.

Floral. Container Design.

Need to feel the love? Rich brings the color to your life. Creating cut floral arrangements is his passion, and he brings that outdoors with his extensive container planting design experience. For over a decade Rich has continued to enhance his creations with the best and freshest product for each season. And wait - did someone say holiday and party decor? You've found the master.

Ponds. Landscape. Design.

Darius is our guy to call when there is a pond or water feature as part of a landscape or design project. His experience ranges from fresh and salt water elements to aquatic plants, with this focus on nature beginning in middle school. Darius found his talent in creating balanced design, and learned the plants of the land world by gardening with his grandma as a child. He now has far too many houseplants, yet somehow not enough.

Landscape Planter. Muscle.

You'll never find someone more agreeable and ready to be on your team than Bradley. A long-time family friend, he has brought us his in-ground planting talent and use of leverage to move all of the things. Gearing up for all weather, Bradley travels across the city on his bike living his eco friendly life on the daily.

Quality Control.

Is there really a description needed for the kid who grew up surrounded by so many plants and plant people? You'll find Norah trimming plants (when she's not hugging them), sweeping in the shop, arranging product displays, and learning to plant outdoor seasonal containers.
